Stompetoren Grand Cru is an exquisite aged gouda made by CONO cheesemakers in the Nord Holland province of the Netherlands. This cheese is made from milk from pasture grazed cows (the fresh grass results in a high quality milk with a lot of protein) and ripened under ideal conditions at the Remijn family’s ripening facility. Eighteen months later we have a stellar example of how rich and creamy an aged gouda can be when it is ripened just right. Grand Cru has wonderful crunchy crystals throughout its smooth texture with tongue teasing flavors of butterscotch and caramel and a balanced saltiness. This full-flavored cheese needs a full bodied cab, loves porters or doppelbocks and is the perfect bite with a glass of port.
