Each of the cheeses made by Shooting Star Creamery, based in Paso Robles, California, is named after a star sign, and their Sagittarius is a unique Gouda-style cheese made with a combination of 50 percent cow milk and 50 percent sheep milk. It has a delicious golden paste that melts in your mouth, with aromas of melted butter and berries and flavor notes of nuts, olive oil, and fresh herbs. Pair with fresh or dried figs, olives, prosciutto, honey, and roasted root vegetables.
Central Coast Creamery is one of California’s most celebrated cheesemakers, with owner Reggie Jones at the helm as one of the state’s most respected artisans. When Reggie invited his daughter, Avery Jones, to step into the world of cheesemaking, we’re so glad she said yes. Though still a college student, Avery has been by her father’s side in the creamery for years, and her cheeses already reflect remarkable skill and creativity. Even better — a portion of all profits is donated to organizations that support veterans.
