This superb cheese by the Artisan cheese makers at Roth Kase was the 2004 and 2005 first place winner at the American Cheese Society and gold medalist at the 2005 World Cheese Awards in London. Similar in style to Spanish Manchego, Gran Queso has a firm body and a rich, full flavor. This handcrafted cheese is shelf-cured for at least six months to create a distinctive bite and lingering sweet finish unlike any other. It has a traditional "basket-weave" rind, which is made all the more distinctive by a colorful roll in paprika. Gran Queso is a superb addition to any cheese board, and is perfect for grating on soups and salads.
