This Spanish cheese, from the family-run cheesemaker Los Cameros, may be produced in a sliceable loaf, but that doesn’t mean it’s not leaps and bounds better than what you find at your supermarket’s deli counter. Riojana’s soft blended loaf-style cheese block is made with at least three quarters cow’s milk, with sheep’s milk and goat’s milk added to enhance the depth of flavor. As the name implies, it’s produced in Spain’s Rioja region with milk sourced from local farms.
Aged just 21 days, Riojana is soft and supple, with a mild, buttery flavor and notes of fresh cream. While this cheese is perfect for snacking, it’s also ideal on sandwiches, especially with Spanish ham.
