Some cheeses are all about bold flavors, but Queso Fresco isn’t one of them! The name literally means “fresh cheese” is Spanish, which really defines this light, fresh, and just salty enough to make everything taste better cheese. Soft, crumbly, it holds onto a little moisture, so it won’t dry out on you, making it perfect for adding a cool, creamy contrast to spicier dishes – think tacos, quesadillas and more.
Don Froylan Creamery is based in Oregon, where the Ochoa family has been making traditional Mexican cheeses for generations. They keep things simple, using high-quality milk and artisan methods to get that perfectly authentic texture and flavor. This cheese is made in small batches, pressed just enough to hold its shape but still tender enough to crumble easily. It’s meant to be eaten fresh, so you get that clean, milky taste in every bite.
Crumble it over tacos or grilled corn, mix it into scrambled eggs, or layer it onto a plate of beans and rice. It also works with fresh fruit or a drizzle of honey if you want something a little different. Unlike melty cheeses, queso fresco softens when warmed but keeps its shape, making it great for stuffing inside warm tortillas or folding into a dish straight off the stove.
Ingredients: Pasteurized whole milk, salt, enzymes.
