This Portuguese-style Linguica sausage is crafted in Glendale, California, by Schreiner’s Fine Sausages, a family-run shop founded in 1952. Now in its third generation, the Schreiner family continues their tradition of daily fresh sausage-making — still proudly wearing the traditional dirndls of Austrian and Southern German butchers.
Rich and flavorful, this Linguica sausage is made with high-quality pork, beef, and seasonings including paprika, chiles, and garlic, and it’s hot-smoked until fully cooked. It’s deeply savory and flavorful, with a mild garlic kick and a pronounced smokiness, and while it can be grilled or pan-seared and served alongside rice and beans (or in a bun), it also lends plenty of flavor to soups including lentil soup and Portuguese caldo verde, alongside eggs, in pastas or rice dishes, or on a charcuterie board.
