This gorgeous goat cheese is made in New York State from fresh milk from Lively Run Dairy’s herd of French Alpines and Swiss Saanens. Finger Lakes Gold is aged for at least four months to produce a cheese that is mellow and nutty in flavor and firm in texture, with a beautiful gold- yellow natural rind. If you love Goat Gouda, this domestic version may become your new favorite! Finger Lakes Gold works nicely with egg-based dishes and melts very well. It is also a wonderfully unique addition to any cheese board, pairing well with cured meats as well as jams or fruit. Enjoy with a full bodied rich Napa Cabernet Sauvignon or a fruity Grand Cru from Burgundy (Pinot Noir), or simply serve with wines from the Finger Lake region.
Lively Run Dairy is a family-owned creamery located in the Finger Lakes Region of New York and one of the longest operating commercial goat dairies in the country, beginning production in 1982. They are pioneers of goat cheese in the United States domestic market. Their small batch, hand made artisanal cheeses were originally made by Suzanne Messmer, the mantle has since passed onto her son Pete who carries on his mother’s cheese recipes and added some of his own innovative recipes to their line of cheeses. Made with vegetarian rennet.
