Each of Paso Robles, California-based Shooting Star Creamery’s cheeses is named after a star sign, and their Leo is a young bloomy-rind cheese made entirely of sheep milk. Think of rich, creamy, buttery Camembert – but with the sweet, grassy, tangy, herbaceous flavor of high-quality, pasture-grazing sheep milk. This silky cheese has notes of allium and sourdough, and it pairs well with fresh figs and pears, nuts, prosciutto, and roasted root vegetables.
Central Coast Creamery is one of California’s most beloved cheese producers – and owner Reggie Jones one of its most beloved cheesemakers – so when he asked his daughter, Avery Jones, if she wanted to try her hand at cheesemaking, we’re thrilled she said yes. Even though Avery is still a college student, she’s been helping her father make cheese all her life, and her cheeses are nothing short of spectacular. A percentage of all profits are also donated to organizations that support veterans.
