Le Gruyère AOP, the distinctive cheese hailing from Switzerland's French-speaking region, encapsulates the essence of gentle mountain blossoms and the captivating alpine herbs that define the area. Its roots extend to the year 1115 when the milk harvested from the villages of the Gruyère region underwent transformation at the hands of local cheesemakers, resulting in one of Switzerland's greatest culinary creations.
Gourmino's Gruyere is made by only 3 mountain dairies: Mountain Dairy Fritzenhaus (cheesemaker Michael Spycher), Vorderfultigen mountain Dairy (cheesemaker Urs Leuenberger) and Village Dairy Combremont (cheesemaker Michael Hanke).
Gourmino's Le Gruyere AOP is a 3-time award-winner for World Cheese Champion and the World Cheese Award confirms Gourmino's small but fine cheese selection and affinage of the most famous cheese in the world.
Gourmino Le Gruyere has flavors reminiscent of melted leeks, fresh corn and vanilla. Swiss Gruyere Cheese is ideal for melting and a necessary ingredient in the classic cheese fondue recipe. Gruyere Cheese is also called for as the preferred topping for French onion soup, quiche and chicken cordon bleu. This multi-purpose cheese may also be eaten as a table cheese, julienned into a Chef's Salad, or shredded over salad or pasta. Gruyere Cheese pairs well with white wines that accentuate its rich nutty flavor such as Pinot Gris or a fruity Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot.
