All we could say is “wow” after the first bite. This washed-rind raw goat’s milk cheese from Belgium is a must try for cheese lovers. Rich and creamy, this can compete with a meaty Taleggio or Reblochon. Made from unpasteurized goat’s milk from a single farm in Ardennes, it is aged for 3 months with its rind developing into a deep orange hue. Cabricharme has a dense, creamy texture, flavors begin sweet with wine-like notes with nuances of a sweet burnt honey flavor and hints of hazelnuts. It finishes with a milky, fruity sweetness that is surprisingly ungoat-like. This is a tough cheese to stop eating, so simply grab a crusty baguette, a Belgian-style beer and get ready for your new favorite Trappist-style cheese.
La Fermière de Méan is a cooperative that was created in 1986 to market quality organic Belgian products. The cooperative first sold the products of member producers in the region's markets. In 1990, La Fermière de Méan started producing its own cheeses from the milk of member farmers. Today they make nearly 20 cheeses.
