Our whole cumin seeds come from India where 63% of the world's cumin seeds are consumed. Known as jeera in India, cumin seeds are an essential ingredient in garam masala and curry powder. The seeds are also eaten after the meal to aid in digestion.
Cumin is a member of the caraway, parley and dill family. It is also widely used in Latin America, Middle Eastern, African and Asian cuisines.
Use in chili, achiote blends, adobos, sofrito and bahaarat. The warming nature of cumin adds flavor and depth to bbq sauces, stews, soups and gravies. Adds character to pickles and brines.
