Grey Salt is a "moist", unrefined sea salt usually found on the coastal areas of France. Esprit du Sel harvests from the salt marshes around Île de Ré. Its light grey color comes from the clay found in the salt flats. The salt is collected by hand using traditional Celtic methods. Grey Salt has gained great fame in the mainstream culinary world in the last few years and is considered by many to be the best quality salt available.

Authentic, unwashed and untreated, the Grey Salt is rich in natural minerals as it conserves all of nature's benefits. Use this salt either as whole crystals or in a salt grinder for all cooking and baking preparations; stocks, soups, sauces, marinades and roasts. It is perfect for the French "Croute de Sel," or salt-encrusted recipes.

Our products are always shipped so they will arrive at your door in optimal condition! We’ve carefully selected packaging options that have minimal impact on the environment without compromising on food safety or quality. 

For perishable orders, we line our shipping boxes with Tempguard - a unique, padded insulator made of 100% pre-consumer recycled paper material. We further control the temperature with recycled kraft paper fill and non-toxic frozen gel packs. In the summer months, we may include dry ice to ensure fresh delivery in very hot weather.
