This unique product dates back to the 14th century. During this era, Pope Clement VI, a great gourmet, discovered this very exclusive mustard and summoned its maker, Messire Jaubertie, to join him in Avignon. The Pope was so impressed he nominated Jaubertie to be "The Master Mustard Maker to the Pope".
Today's version of this special condiment has been made by the Denoix family of Brive-la-Gaillarde (southwestern France) for generations. The family saved the recipe for this so-called "fairy in a violet dress" from oblivion. Made from mustard, grape must, red wine and a palette of harmonious spices, it is totally free of any additives or colors. Gentle and spicy, it enriches many types of dishes.
Serve it as an accompaniment to deli meats, fish, beef, pork, and sausages. It also makes an excellent addition to many marinade and salad dressing recipes. It pairs perfectly with avocados, asparagus, chicory and tomatoes. The Denoix family invites you to create your own fantasies by following your own inspiration and taste.
