Juanita's Foods introduced Mexican Style Hominy to the American market in the 1970's. It is made from the finest corn available with the bran and germ removed from each kernel. After the kernels have been cleaned, they are boiled then soaked in lime until plump and firm. They are then cleaned of lime and any excess hull and canned in water.
Make an oven roasted snack, serve as a side dish simply with butter. Delicious in soups, stews and chili. Essential for Menudo and Pozole.
George de la Torre and his nephew, Albert Guerrero established the Harbor Canning Company in Wilmington, CA in 1946. In 1950 Albert decided to distribute his wife Juanita's family recipe for Menudo. By the 1980's they were the largest producer of Menudo. Still family owned, Juanita's Foods represents their love of all things Mexican.
