Herring is a staple of the Scandinavian diet. Traditionally it was served with dill, sour cream, or chopped onion. But as international cuisines traveled from around the world, new flavors blended with the old world.
Delicious herring tidbits are pickled, then blended with curry. Enjoy this herring as you would traditional matjes - on potatoes, crispbread, or with sliced cucumber.
Klädesholmen is an old fishing community dating back to the 15th century. It is an island and village in Tjörn municipality, Bohuslän, Sweden.
Klädesholmen Seafood AB is a modern company based on generations of knowledge and experience. Previously, they were four independent companies: Alax, Bråse, Clocks and PK Konserver. In order to grow stronger and expand their market opportunities, they decided to merge into a joint venture called Klädesholmen Seafood. Some of the company owners are fifth generation and almost half of all Swedish pickled herring comes from Klädesholmen. The herring they use for thei products is fished in the Norwegian Sea, North Sea, Skagerrak and Kattegatt, no herring comes from the Baltic Sea.
