Earl Grey is one of the most popular tea blends in the world, with every tea house having its own blend of this classic elixir. We particularly love FAUCHON’s Earl Grey blend of China black tea with cornflowers, diced orange and lemon peel, and bergamot. The lemon and orange brings a fresh citrus flavor to the blend with the unique lemony-orange aromas of bergamot. Cornflowers add to the beauty of this blend but also have the added benefit of anti-inflammatory properties.
This elegant Earl Grey blend with cornflowers is best served without milk. Enjoy with a slice of lemon and sweeten as desired.
There are many stories about how Earl Grey tea became a staple English classic. One version is that this orange-flavored tea originated in China and was first observed by Sir George Staunton of the East India Company in 1793. It was originally flavored by Neroli Oil, which is produced from the essence of Chinese Bitter Orange Flowers. Today, most Earl Grey teas get their orange flavor from Bergamot Oil. The only thing we know for certain is that the tea was named after Charles, the 2nd Earl Grey and British Prime Minister from 1830 to 1834.
Since its creation in 1886 in Paris, FAUCHON has been sharing culinary excellence in the French style and around the world. With a taste for the rare and the unique, the brand combines fantasy, audacity and creativity.
