Redware clay pots have long been a part of Mexican cooking traditions. Carefully hand-crafted by artisans in Mexico, this beautiful pot incorporates ancient hand molding techniques with modern design elements. An olla de barro is perfect for making traditional Mexican hot chocolate. Just place pot over a medium flame (or on electric range) and add milk or water and chocolate - stir and froth. For best results, use our Hernan Mexican chocolate. Take the authenticity up with Hernan's stunning molinillo to stir and press the chocolate.
This pot can also be used to heat teas and soups or for café de olla. Side handles and spout make for easy serving.
Hernan, LLC was founded in 2007 by Isela Hernandez. Originally from Del Rio, Texas, Isela grew up in the small town along the US-Mexico border, just minutes away from Cuidad Acuña, Coahuila. She was raised in the best of both worlds, exploring the opportunities of the US while remaining closely connected to Mexico’s rich culture. The idea for Hernan developed after a trip to Guerrero, Coahuila. During this trip, while contemplating the vast Mexican landscape, Isela decided to use her experience as a merchant to start a business with socially responsible underpinnings that would capitalize on the popularity of Mexican cuisine and culture.
