Costa Esmeraldas is a single estate cacao farm, owned by the Salazar family on the Northwest coast of Ecuador. The pods of Nacional-Venezolano Amarillo cacao are transported daily during harvest, meticulously fermented, and sun-dried at a facility close to the farm. This makes Costa Esmeraldas one of the favorite farm partners of Dandelion Chocolate, a bean-to-bar maker in San Francisco's Mission District. The company takes a minimal approach to their confections, in order to highlight the distinctive flavor notes of different cocoa beans. In the case of this strikingly dark bar, that includes everything from bread, balsamic vinegar and brownies, to lemon, cherries, and green bananas!

How We Ship
Perishable foods are optimally packed and temperature controlled with kraft void fill and non-toxic refrigerant gel packs. To further contain temperature escalation, we fill any empty space with specialized foam to minimize air circulation.
