Legend has it in 1890, a Southern gentlewoman set out to make taffy. But reaching for cream of tartar, she mistakenly grabbed baking soda. Voila, the crunchy-sweet treat “Brittle” was born. Someone added peanuts, and the world got Peanut Brittle.
